she’s safe

July 5, 2003 — Leave a comment

just got an email from vic. she’s alive and well.

i feel a lot better now. so i’m out. party starts at 11, k is supposed to be here in 30 minutes, pre party drinks and then on with the show. i don’t expect  to be home before 5am.

i am so going to pay for this tomorrow. there is an 80s party on the night after vic gets here, i’m debating if i want to share her with the world or keep to myself a little longer.

i’m off for drinking and dancing and planning suitable punishments.

have a good night all, whatever you chose to do.

have you seen jay and silent bob strike back? ok, you know the website – moviepoopshoot.com? well it really exists. got to love kevin smith.

and in some sad news, barry white died

back to planning the evening’s entertainments.

one more thing

July 4, 2003 — Leave a comment

got this from my friend franka

[ a litte background info, david coleman is a famed english sports commentator]

here are some of his greatest moments:

  1. That’s the fastest time ever run – but it’s not as fast as the world

    record.

  2. Don’t tell those coming in the final result of that fantastic match, but

let’s just have another look at Italy’s winning goal.

  3. For those of you watching who do not have television sets, live commentary

    is on Radio 2.

  4. This is a truly international field, no Britons involved.

  5. Both of the Villa scorers – Withe and Mortimer – were born in Liverpool as

was the Villa manager Ron Saunders who was born in Birkenhead.

  6. He’s 31 this year – last year he was 30.

  7. He won the bronze medal in the 1976 Olympics so he’s used to being out

    in front.

  8. We estimate, and this isn’t an estimation, that Greta Waltz is 80 seconds

    behind.

  9. Linford Christie’s got a habit of pulling it out when it matters most.

  10. The late start is due to the time.

  11. He’s got his hands on his knees and holds his head in despair.

  12. He’s even smaller in real life than he is on the track.

  13. This could be a repeat of what will happen in the European games next

    week.

  14. It’s a battle with himself and with the ticking fingers of the clock.

  15. Here are some names to look forward to – perhaps in the future.

  16. In the Moscow Olympics Lasse Viren came in fifth and ran a champions race.

  17. He just can’t believe what’s not happening to him.

  18. One of the great unknown champions because very little is known about him.

  19. There’ll be only one winner now – in every sense.

  20. He is accelerating all the time. The last lap was run in 64 seconds and

the one before that in 62.

  21. The big Cuban opened his legs and showed his class.

  22. (At the velodrome) The front wheel crosses the fininsh line, closely

    followed by the back wheel.

really i should i got back from the movie about 30 minutes ago, i’ve got work in the morning, but my 8 – 4:30 ain’t paying for this trip (vic is here in 24 days), i need to make sure we’re both covered for the week off work, food, accomodation, transport… they usual stuff, so here i am slaving away on the website. well not actually slaving, doing thumbnails til i find something i really like and then i get to work.

i saw finding nemo and bruce almighty tonight, liked bruce, loved, loved, loved, finding nemo, it was funny and touching and the geek in me was just like, whoa. it’s nice to go with friends, but it just make think about all the little things i miss doing with vic, i love going to the movies, we’ve seen one movie together, that’s just so not right. i miss her so much. god, if start climbing down this hole i wont get anything done tonight.

i’m off to finish the thumbnails and so i can present a draft to the client in the morning. adieu.

just got out of the shower. have a very long and refreshing shower – body shop grapefruit & lime body wash is divine. i also washed my hair, funny thing in the middle of the wash, rinse, repeat cycle i realised i’d washed my hair last weekend. well, i want to get it neatened this week anyway.
the personal grooming has begun, vic is 27 days away, i’ve already begun the dietary changes. well not changes per say, just a more careful monitoring of what ingest. less dairy, red meat, more fruit, particularly citrus and water. if you don’t what i’m talking about check here (i know i posted this already, but not everyone follows the links) and here. it’s a regular ritual, one which we’ve both found quite successful.
i’m sitting around in my boxers, with my wet hair on my back watching hackers (i’m a sucker for this movie, i’m not sure what i like more the faux-geek speak, the classic apple computers or the very butch angelina jolie) as soon as it’s done, i’m heading off to be a mac god for someone with a 15” lamp imac, it may be the ticket to get my copy of potter this afternoon.
ok, i’m starting to dry off in this heat, time to complete the ritual, no shower/bath is complete without body butter. today’s flavour is…

so many choices…

i chose…

MANGO.

i’m out, off to work for my hp. adieu.

i know i posted the results for the vh1 greatest songs of the last 25 years, but i was watching it tonight, backhole boys, nelly…

what the fuck?

the only thing more annoying that was the 100 greatest hip hop moments/artist. i’m curious as to the people who make these decisions. they obviously need a crash course in good fucking taste.

but of course we’ll continue to watch.

i’m not really pissed, just working the edge off of being hungry, one meal a day does that to you.

adieu. talk to you tomorrow.

just a quick observation before i go to bed (i know, i know, i should be asleep already – i was contemplating selling my machine and getting a new one, but as of this writing it’s fallen through [hopefully the machine wouldn’t have realised i even contemplated selling and start behaving temperamentally])

when one has no cable, one resorts to whatever is available for one’s tube fix, interestingly i discovered a very cool little show on tv6 (one of two local channels – we get whatever programmes they pick up the rights for off the major and not so major networks) – john doe. it apparently aired on fox, and it’s about a guy who wakes up with amnesia (at least to the extent that he doesn’t know who he is but seems to know everything else). tonight was the season finale episode, so i went online (as one is wont to do with things that peak your interest) only to discover that john doe hadn’t been renewed for another season, leaving us (faithful views) with a cliffhanger and no hope satisfaction.

which brings me to my point, over the years tv6s has brought quite a number of series to local television audiences only to have them cancelled (ok some of them have come to the end of their run, but only after tv6 started showing them)…

dark angel, xfiles, buffy, witchblade, john doe, if i watched more tv i would know these things, but who really cares anyway

is this bad choice or bad tv6 karma? just a thought before you go to bed.

good night.

here we are couple hours later, 2Gb of new music sorted and categorised.

i no longer want break something or someone. i didn’t call, because that would have just degenerated into something nasty and unprofessional. and thus far i have been able to keep it professional.

i think i just need two major projects to get me out of this hole and have enough squirrel away for vic’s visit.

it’s started raining here and all i can think about is crawling into bed with vic by my side.

i really hope it rains (pours actually) while she’s here.

i had a bunch of links that i was going to post but vic just told me about what she wore to work today and the thought of her in a skirt just pushes all coherent thought out of my mind. completely.

have a good one

(edited twice after some good natured ribbing)

going to bed and let the rain on my roof lull me to sleep.

happy, happy, joy, joy

June 8, 2003 — 1 Comment

the rains are here and i think they are here to stay. the skies are grey, and it rained all morning. it’s a lovely thing to wake up to the sound of rain thundering down on your roof. it hasn’t done much for the heat. i’m sitting around in my boxers, the sweat pouring off my body.

i was watching the mtv movie awards at a friends this morning and there were a couple things that bothered me…

first – Tatu, could that performance be any more manufactured? i watched them and their entourage of women (some of whom appeared to have left school about the same time i did) in school girl uniforms, gyrate and ham it up for the audience. maybe something is right with me, but if it was supposed to titillate, it didn’t i just thought none of the gay women i know behave like that. it was just a show for the desperate young men who think the jiggle of a bra less breast or the hint of a hardening nipple is the holy grail.

which brings me to my second point, is there a shortage of bras in hollywood? or is it just to help mtv?

on to my third and final point, this is going to be long, so sit back and get comfortable…

what is it about dressing children, especially prepubescent girls like $2 crack whores and their pimps?
these are little children, they don’t need to make hipster pants and bra tops in their sizes, because they lack either and if they do have them they should not be on display. over the last couple of days i’ve noticed this disturbing trend, from the little 8 year old who showed for a casting  in an (i do no lie) off the shoulder midriff top, denim mini and thigh high boots, to some little girl who won an award on the show in hipster pants that she had to keep pulling up because, you have no hips yet, little girl. sigh. maybe i’m old fashioned, but i have two girls. i’m not advocating bubbles and frilly smocks. i’m advocating comfort and childhood. jeans, tshirts, shorts, vests. the occasionally pretty dress when the occasion calls for it.

my mother used to tell me, that it wasn’t so much delinquent children as delinquent parents. and i tend to agree, how can you dress you child like that? how can you willingly look at your child and think – hey, she looks like a small version of me, that’s good. IT’S NOT! this is not your younger sister or a barbie doll. this is a child, to which you as a parent bear some responsibility.
and this is not just about the girls either, do you think dressing them like little thugs has no effect on their behaviour?
sigh, the people that need to read this will never see it, but i just needed to get it off my chest.

i’m going to give this movie my undivided attention, i’ll be back later with links and your moment of zen.

so i’m trying random subject lines. but from stuff that’s going on  in my life, it may not necessarily have anything to do with the acutal post, but rest assured it reflects something that influenced me today.

i’m also reclaiming the term pear-shaped as a good thing. i just have to figure out another term for the absolute mess my day attempted to turn into. i just gave up on working this afternoon and finished watching ‘real women have curves’ which was real sweet (america ferrera is gorgeous), i tried to leave early and then got stuck in a pre production meeting with my boss.

what is interesting is my job gets more interesting everyday as my workload increases. this is my last month on probation and my boss is introducing me to people as the creative director. not a title i object to. even if i don’t get paid for it, it looks great on a resume. i spoke to vic this afternoon as well (dance of joy, dance of joy), as a friend of mine pointed out, i’m making it sound as if we’re on the same landmass, but you take your joys as you can. this has been the longest we’ve been without any kind of communication.

the itching has started. always the least fun part of getting a tattoo, i’ve got a boatload of tabs open, following links, keeping myself distracted.

thsirt hell (guaranteed to offend someone)

Department of Justice finds “significant problems” in the detainment of aliens after Sept. 11. (duh?)

the camel toe report (believe it or not, there is an entire site dedicated to it, some people just have to much time on their hands)

and your moment of zen

i’ll be back later, i’m going to hunt and gather. hunger is starting to get the best of me.
