and counting

On June 30, 2003, in links, love, lust, longing, by keifel

there are 18 days til vic gets here.

if the dreams get any more intense i’m going to spontaneously combust. today is the halfway point, since we’ve gotten all the tickets and this trip has become our talisman, our holy grail. there is a small voice in the back of my head trying to tell me calm down, there are a million things that could go wrong between, now and then. i know it’s the voice of reason, but i don’t want to conceive spending another month apart from vic.

even as we gear up for this trip, i’m looking at long weekends later in the year, where we can get away to see each other. my mind is a jumble right now, my heart is racing, i have this whimsical smile on my face, so many thoughts are racing through my head right now. i’ll come back this, i can’t concentrate, put what i’m thinking into words, maybe it’s not so much my brain, as my heart. i’m happy and i’m in love.

after all that joy, i have a couple pieces of distressing news.

first, one of the grand dames of film, kathrine hepburn, died,

secondly, a us constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage?

and finally, why is it people (it’s not just americans) feel that someone else is responsible for their children (it’s a two part article) and their behaviour (thanks laura), this kind of thing always distresses me to read. it’s always some external factor, no one wants to admit, they’ve not done the best they can for their children. this is a whole other post, i’m going to stop here.

HAPPY PRIDE WEEK!

tonight in trinidad:

Movie Night featuring Phillip Pike’s “Songs of Freedom” a film documenting the GLBT Community of Jamaica, with an original score composed by Toronto musician Quammie. Hosted by DENI.

Time: 07.00 pm till | ADMISSION: FREE | All events are held at Bohemia

i’m off to work, i’ll be back later.

the simple things

On June 29, 2003, in personal, by keifel

i realised i didn’t put in the number of days til vic gets here: 19

after a long, pleasant, dream filled nap, i had to go pick up the girls.
music is an interesting thing, there are songs that you’ll always associate with a moment, a person. tonight i was fortunate enough to hear the two songs that remind me about the two non-blood relations that mean the most to me. my best friend and my wife. it also made me think about love. how it’s possible to love two people in completely different ways and want the same thing for them both – their complete happiness.
there is no point to this, no greater meaning, just glad that i have these people in my life. i feel very centred, i’m in a good place.
another calming aspect of the evening is watching children sleep, my younger daughter and her sister (long complicated story, let’s just say i have interesting family relationships) have this habit of falling asleep as soon as they get in a car. it’s beautiful to behold.

i’m going to chat with my wife. have a good night.

well fed and trying to catch up

On June 29, 2003, in links, by keifel

the rain stopped while i was eating, so i’m sitting here in front of the fan, catching up on the links i missed over the last couple of days.

foodie porn (for vic)

questions about the safety of soy. brainshrinking tofu? and a counter argument (what me worry? i’m  a carnivore baby.)

the key art award winners (keyart are the awards for movie hype designs – trialers, standees, posters, the stuff that makes you think about spending your cash.)

the first worker-owned co-operative strip club

and your moment of zen

nap time, i’m crashing.

what a difference a day makes

On June 29, 2003, in personal, by keifel

a little over 36 hours ago i was posting about random acts of kindness and feeling all warm inside about the place. it was too good to last. i went to work, that wasn’t too bad, borrowed my ex-brother-in-law’s car, picked up the pig et homme and off we went to the slamming back in times party. evelyn champagne king wasn’t all that, but the company was good, the music was nice.
my damn near perfect weekend was fucked when i got back to the car and realised that it had been broken into, radio gone and the pig’s bag is gone. there is a sense of violation when you’re robbed, only compounded by the inordinate amount of shit you have to go through. i moseyed to the police station to make a report, even though as the nice policeman (now there are words that i’d never thought i’d utter) told me that it would just be another unsolved larceny statistic (as if i didn’t know that). now i have replace the tape player in the car, another expense, i could do without.
in other news while i wait on my printed copies of hp5 to arrive in hand, i found a copy floating about online and i can safely say i understand why ebooks never made it. i spend about an hour last night trying to read it on my hand held, what an exercise in frustration. as much as i’m advocate of technology, ebooks will never replace paper for me.

i’m going to get some food, read the news (which means i’ll be back later with links) and take a nap. the rain is pouring down here and there is very little that beats a nap on a rainy sunday afteroon, well in 3 sundays, i’m sure i’ll prove myself wrong.

for vic

On June 28, 2003, in links, by keifel

came across this today and thought you’d like it

leaving the office now, the last print is coming out of the printer. going home, take a nap, then off to the old school party tonight. evelyn ‘champagne’ king. woo hoo.

too long, too long

On June 28, 2003, in love, lust, longing, memes, work, by keifel

only 20 more days before gets here. 🙂 my god, the dreams, the dreams. i’m still tingling and it’s midafternoon. i’ve been in the office far too many hours already. the print making continues, either i have exceptionally high standards or most people in the business here have no idea how printing operates.

nevermind, i was going to start ranting but i’m trying to extending the good feeling from last night’s random act of kindness and that truly delicious, sensuous dream. (wouldn’t you like to know)

i’m taking a break while the last of the files save and i managed to squeeze in some tests.

got this one from jadedgrrl and it was too funny not to take, here is my result:

Not Bad

You scored a 32.

You are 43.8% queer.

Well, you are kinda queer, but you still need to work in it a bit.  You only scored in the bottom 50th percentile of queerness.  More than half the world is queerer than you, meaning half the world is having more fun than you.

Others in your queerness category: Pierce Brosnan, Don King, The guy on the Quaker Oats box, Don Johnson,  Dick Van Dyke, your local weatherman, any Asian or guy from Europe.

which makes this result, no surprise:

HASH(0x83a9b98)

You are: Flaming Ernie- Wow, I always wondered why

he liked to hang out with Bert…. I always

thought Bert was the gay one…. Ha-  you

proved that one wrong! Oh well. Gay ppl are

happy ppl…

What F*cked up Sesame Charracter are you?

brought to you by Quizilla

(thanks laura)

and this has been knocking about  js for a couple days now:

entrancing

You have an entrancing kiss~ the kind that leaves

your partner bedazzled and maybe even feeling

he/she is dreaming.  Quite effective; the kiss

that never lessens and always blows your

partner away like the first time.

What kind of kiss are you?

brought to you by Quizilla

and the friday 5 only a day late (but not very applicable):

1. How are you planning to spend the summer [winter] (august vacation in these parts)?

working mostly (but vic is coming here in 20 days. woo hoo)

2. What was your first summer job?

bagging groceries, loved it.

3. If you could go anywhere this summer [winter], where would you go?

anywhere vic and i could hole up for hours and hours alone.

4. What was your worst vacation ever?

none really, i usually find a way to have a good time wherever i am.

5. What was your best vacation ever?

4 days in barbados with vic

random act of kindness

On June 28, 2003, in personal, by keifel

I am sitting on my porch typing this (no wireless acess, just typing and then dialup afterwards), thinking about karma.

of course there is a story to this, i left my office a little after midnight, pondering how i was getting home. my office is petit valley (suburb, about a 15 minute traffic free drive outside of port of spain), now under normal circumstances public transport to and from there is kind of weird, so at midnight it’s damn near impossible, as i was standing there, flagging down every possible automobile, someone stopped for me.
what’s strange is, on this troubled rock (daily kidnappings, murder and mayhem), is that this person stopped for me. even under the best of circumstances, i get odd looks (6’ 2”, black with dreads, i fit a profile, everywhere and not a particularly good one) and he stopped and gave me a lift in to port of spain. no questions asked. i’m usually quite cynical, but under these circumstances all i can say is thank you.
a public and heartfelt thanks. the milk of human kindness has not completely curdled.
may the ripples of this random act of kindness was upon your shore. wherever you are.

good night.

i’m still here

On June 27, 2003, in work, by keifel

it’s 6:30pm and i’m still at the office, it’s been that kind of day. actually it’s because i sat on my ass uninspired all day, that and the new printer that i recommended decided that it was going to be difficult under os x. well i fixed that, now i just need to placate my client when she calls screaming why her webserver which i guaranteed would be up in two days, isn’t going up til monday. i’m so not in the mood. doesn’t help that i have to come into work tomorrow which will be all day adventure by the looks of it.

tonight would be a great night to get fucked, senseless, what am i saying, on any night that would be a dream come through. but tonight i just want to surrender. 21 days, 21 days, 21 days. in three weeks, i’ll be on my way to the airport around now. not soon enough.

i should get back to work, i’m aiming to leaving the printer going with the prints and do the paste up tomorrow. i’ll be back later.

well rested

On June 27, 2003, in links, news, by keifel

i actually got to bed before midnight and managed to get at least 6 hours sleep, so i feel a lot better, although i could crawl back in to bed and sleep til noon. adding to this feeling of well being is the fact that victoria will be here in 3 weeks, 21 days. the time seems to be streaming along, two weeks have passed since i started the count already. my dreams and my thoughts have been filled with longing, it not just about the sex, it’s the intimacy, not feeling a stab of jealousy when i see couples holding hands. the simple things, the kissing, the laughing, face to face conversations. i want them and for 10 days next month i get to have them. and we’re not definitely not going to let another 10 months go by we see each other again.

now the news:

strom thurmond died .

everything else is entertainment:

the birthdate thing that’s been floating around:

Of rare beauty
knows how to adapt
likes luxury
of good health
not in the least shy
tends to look down on others
self-confident
determined
impatient
wants to impress others
many talents
industrious
healthy optimism
waiting for the one true love
able to make quick decisions.

(sounds about correct except for the second to last one – found my true love)

i have to thank jadegrrl for this truly entertaining link – the world lovemaking championships (vic, do you think we should enter or judge?)

and finally your moment of zen

time for work, blog you later.
