i`ve gotten the keys to the apt, my laundry is being done. and i`ve got some cash in my pocket. i have a friend at the airline checking to see if vic collected her ticket in mia yet. the rains have started. all is good in the world.

it’s almost 6am and i’ve been laying on my bed tossing and turning. i haven’t been able to sleep. the hours are drifting by almost too slowly. i supposed one i get going on all the things i have to finish and get done today, i’ll have less time to ponder the minutes and the seconds.
i don’t think there are words in my vocabulary to describe how happy i am today, about now vic is heading to the airport in nashville, i’m sitting here checking the weather in nashville and miami, checking the airline for delays. trying to plan out all the other things i need to get done to day and none of it seems particularly important. i’ve been married 18 months today. a year and a half and most of that has been spent away from vic. it’s been 9 months and 27 days since i saw her last. and this evening everything is going to be reset. for the next 10 days, we’re going to be together. i can listen to her voice, see her laugh, feel her skin against mine, look at her, burn her image in my retaina, to hold in my head and my heart for as long as it takes for me to see her again.

i borrowed my ex-brother-in-law’s car to get me through the 10 days that vic is here. i went to pick it up this evening and then came home. i was so haunted i went and had a beer with purple turtle and k.
this is where the adventures began, driving back the rear tyre began to do an exotic little dance, i wasn’t going very fast, so i slowed down even more and realised the rear right tyre seemed to be slipping off, i was far from the gas station so i nursed the car in and went to investiquire [now mind you, my area of technological expertise is computers not cars] my first thought was that the wheel nuts were slack, boy was i wrong, the bearing on the right rear tyre stripped.
for those of you not technically inclined this means i was minutes away from the tyre slipping off the car. [that maybe overly dramatic, but the ease with which the tyre came off in my hand i doubt it.]
well that little adventure behind me, i’m ready for bed, vic is safely in bed, having to be up way before eos, rosy-fingered goddess of the dawn makes an appearance to catch her connecting flight to miami, then she has a 8 hour layover in mia, to arrive here in just over 20 hours.

i am physically exhausted, i feel like i could sleep another 16 hours, but mentally my mind appears to be firing on all cylinders. i got up this morning and finished up a lot of the work that was kicking my ass, if i wasn’t going to be out of the office all of next week, i’d stay home today and work. that and fact that i have stuff that can’t be telecommuted – production meeting, images to send out to scan. besides i think one of the reasons i’m able to work now, is that there are no distractions, everyone is still in bed. i need to find a space where i can work uninterrupted at least til thursday, which is pretty much the last day i have to get this stuff out with changes. somehow, i don’t see my sleep situation getting any better.
