from the nice lady in vic`s congressman`s office:

“she said that it could be another full year before they even get to your application. the way they do it is they put all those with receipts month by month together then alphabtize them and then fishbowl the alphabet. but they won`t even say from which month they are processing and apparently waivers have the least priority. she siad you need to look into filing for an extention on the K visa in novemebr to give that time to process.”

HOW NICE!

so know we know why our application is taking so long to process.

but you know what? fuck it. all things in due course. vic may be up for a promotion and i applied for a job which i`m actually qualified for and may pay that half a peanut more. and it would mean that i`m physically closer to her.

yeah, we`ll still be separated by a couple thousand miles, but it will be a couple thousand less.

and in other news…

congratulations to purpleturtle [she`s in my faves] for being my 6000th visitor. i have a smirnoff ice for you.

heading home now. i`ll post later.

well rested

June 27, 2003 — Leave a comment

i actually got to bed before midnight and managed to get at least 6 hours sleep, so i feel a lot better, although i could crawl back in to bed and sleep til noon. adding to this feeling of well being is the fact that victoria will be here in 3 weeks, 21 days. the time seems to be streaming along, two weeks have passed since i started the count already. my dreams and my thoughts have been filled with longing, it not just about the sex, it’s the intimacy, not feeling a stab of jealousy when i see couples holding hands. the simple things, the kissing, the laughing, face to face conversations. i want them and for 10 days next month i get to have them. and we’re not definitely not going to let another 10 months go by we see each other again.

now the news:

strom thurmond died .

everything else is entertainment:

the birthdate thing that’s been floating around:

Of rare beauty
knows how to adapt
likes luxury
of good health
not in the least shy
tends to look down on others
self-confident
determined
impatient
wants to impress others
many talents
industrious
healthy optimism
waiting for the one true love
able to make quick decisions.

(sounds about correct except for the second to last one – found my true love)

i have to thank jadegrrl for this truly entertaining link – the world lovemaking championships (vic, do you think we should enter or judge?)

and finally your moment of zen

time for work, blog you later.

i know i’m beat when i forget stuff that’s right in front of my face…

here are two quick links i meant to post just now…

the box office oracle (try it you’ll like it)
and anal sex for all.

thank you and good night.

reclaiming `cunt`

June 12, 2003 — Leave a comment

i’m back from the wilds of valencia (eastern trinidad) we only saw one quarry today. oddly, in light of what is being done, the quarry was beautiful, proof that mother nature even at her worst is a stunner. it was nice to be out of the office all day, we could have gone back but decided against it. i came home instead and i’ve been catching up on my reading…

seems a sad day for gentlemen

gregory peck whose role as Atticus Finch in To Kill A Mockingbird won him the Academy Award for Best Actor; and ranking earlier this month as “the greatest hero in 100 years of film history” by the American Film Institute; passed away at age 87.

and veteran journalist david brinkley also died today at the age 82

in more upbeat news…

official string theory website (geeks of the world, UNITE!)

the 50 worst company names, kind of puerile, but it’s been a long day, cut me some slack.

another best list (you make the call) the 50 best magazines

and finally your moment of zen

i just caught the beginning of escape from LA and thought – fact is truly stranger than fiction, everyday i read something else that makes me ponder about the ‘land of the free’ concept…

there is the latest insanity by walmart (don’t these people have anything better to do with their fucking time)

and then there is this brilliant piece in the Progressive Review about the current us adminstration trying to teach the iraqis democracy any thing that begins like this:

Tired of killing Muslims, we are now trying to teach their survivors some democracy.
There are a number of practical problems with this, among them being that the curriculum is in the hands of the most authoritarian, deceitful, anti-democratic, and constitution-wrecking administration we’ve ever had. But there’s an even more disturbing matter: wander around your nation’s capital and try to find something better. Leaving aside anomalies such as the ACLU and the Cato Institute, a few members of Congress, and a handful of anachronic journalists, this town shows virtually no interest in liberty, the Constitution, or democracy these days – except when prescribing them to those in far away lands.

read it in it’s entirety here

and for those of you who wonder where i get a lot of my entertainments, try metafilter (thank you vic)

ooooh, just saw this one truly a woman after my own heart.

i’m off to keep myself distracted, i don’t seem to have an kind of control over my body, not that i want to, but it’s just so pointless by myself.

i took the day off, cause i wasn’t feeling well and i’m cruising the usual places, reading and trying to keep my head up and then i come across stuff like this…

women’s rights

one of the reasons i’ve wanted to leave trinidad is to give my daughters greater opportunities, but of late, it seems that the rights of women are being eroded more and more with each passing day. i remember seeing this article a couple weeks ago and sighing heavily but this latest statement affects the international community as well. if you don’t go to the link, here is the crux of the matter:

“The American delegation joined with Iran, Pakistan, Sudan, Libya and others in efforts to delete a phrase – included in previously agreed-upon UN statements dating back a decade – that calls on countries to condemn violence against women and “refrain from invoking any custom, tradition or religious consideration” to avoid the obligation to stop the violence.

It joined objections to a passage about women in armed conflict, aligning itself with fundamentalist regimes in trying to change a reference to “forced pregnancy” – listed along with murder, rape, systematic rape and sexual slavery as by-products of war and societies emerging from conflict. The term “forced pregnancy” is seen by some anti-abortion groups as a pretext for promoting abortion.

“I don’t think we’re aligning ourselves with countries who have bad records on human rights,” said Ellen Sauerbrey, a former Republican candidate for Maryland governor and President George W. Bush’s chief representative to the commission.”

it goes on but you’ll have to read it for yourself and draw your own conclusions.

in my other reading, i came across a tidbit about excessive polictical correctness in a LA Times review of The Language Police (you may need to subscribe, but it’s free)

i’m going to watch er, maybe that will cheer me up

quick note

May 2, 2003 — Leave a comment

may is national masturbation month. if you’re appalled, too fucking bad, move on. if you’re interested read on…

“Good Vibrations began celebrating National Masturbation Month in 1995 because we wanted to highlight the importance of masturbation for nearly everyone: it’s safe, it’s healthy, it’s free, it’s pleasurable and it helps people get to know their bodies and their sexual responses. Of all the kinds of sex people can have, masturbation is the most universal and important, yet few people talk about it freely — worse, many people still feel it is “second best” or problematic in some way. National Masturbation Month lets us emphasize how great it is: it’s natural, common and fun!”

good vibrations haven’t updated their page for this year yet, but here is the url for further details

there is also the masturbate for peace website, which i can’t be bothered to look for right now but i’m sure you all know how to use google and yahoo.

i know a lot of the furor of this has died down but as a bisexual in a monogamous hetro relationship, the concepts of Rick Santorum comments are very distressing to me and lot of the things that worry me are outlined here

the question of sexual privacy is a big deal for me. i live in a country where oral and anal sex are still illegal. no one is coming to your house to check…

yet.
